Roof Condition Inspections
A roof inspection is one of those preventative maintenance jobs that’s easy to overlook. Don’t. Add a once-a-year reminder on your calendar to go out on a warm day and fix any problems you find. The roof is a critical component of any structure. Regardless of the climate, you will want to assure the roofing system in your structure is performing correctly.
If your home is more than 25 years old, you may be required to provide proof that your roof has been replaced (or is under contract for replacement) to be eligible for coverage. You may be eligible, even without proof of replacement, if you submit documentation from a qualified inspector verifying the roof has at least three years of remaining useful life.
CITIZENS INSURANCE ROOF CONDITION INSPECTION
You may have received a letter from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation requesting that you have your roof inspected by a qualified and/or licensed individual. You have received this notification because they would like to know when the last time repairs were made to your roof. They would also like to know the condition of the roof. If the roof is in poor condition they may choose to not write your insurance policy. They may also require it be upgraded or fixed before writing your insurance policy.
The inspection process does not require the inspector to walk on the roof or get inside of the attic of the home. Citizens Insurance will need to know from exterior of home, the age and condition of the roof as estimated by a qualified inspector.
- What is the estimated life remaining in the shingles?
- When the roof last updated?
- Are there any visible signs of leaks?
- Determine if there any visible signs of damage or deterioration of shingles, such as, curling, lifting, loose, missing, sagging or uneven roof deck
- Along with the answers to the questions they require 2 photographs of the roof to be submitted with the form.
